Odgers Connect recently commissioned the IPPR to analyse the size, nature, and extent of the so-called ‘professional gig economy’ in the UK. We use publicly available data from a variety of sources to give a picture of the extent of professional independent working and self-employment in the UK labour market, finding that it represents a significant portion of the total.
